Trevelyan’s has been growing a better future for our people, our business and our world for over 50 years.
50 years of Trevelyan’s
Commercially founded by John and Elizabeth Trevelyan, our business began as a humble family venture and has since evolved into a significant enterprise.
1965
John and Elizabeth Trevelyan purchase a Dairy Farm at 310 No.1 Road, Te Puke.
1971
The Trevelyan family plant their first kiwifruit vines.
1976
Packhouse 1 is built, enabling in-house packing operations.
1980
Coolstores are built on the site, allowing for longer-term storage of fruit.
1995
Trevelyan’s begins the packing and distribution of avocados.
1996
Packhouse 2 is built.
1998
1 million trays of kiwifruit are packed for the first time.
2000
Trevelyan’s Growers Ltd (TGL) is established.
2005
Trevelyan’s begins packing Zespri Organic Green and Gold kiwifruit.
2007
5 million trays of kiwifruit are packed for the first time.
2008
Packhouse 3 is built.
2009
Trevelyan’s onsite campground is developed.
2009
James Trevelyan returns to Trevelyan’s as Managing Director.
2011
Trevelyan’s Managed Orchards (TMO) is established.
2012
Pollen processing begins with the formation of No. 1 Road Pollen.
2014
NutriKiwi is formed with other suppliers to supply Class 2 Green Kiwifruit to Australia.
2015
13 million trays of kiwifruit are packed for the first time.
2015
New Zealand Golden Kiwifruit Company is established to supply the New Zealand domestic market with kiwifruit, run by Trevelyan’s for multiple suppliers.
2016
Packhouse 4 is built, and 15 million trays of kiwifruit are packed for the first time.
2022
Trevelyan Avocado Growers Ltd (TAGL) is formed.
2022
1 million trays of avocados are packed for this first time.
2023
The first controlled atmosphere (CA) store is built.
2024
The first automation is added to the packhouses.
2025
20 million Class 1 trays of kiwifruit are packed for the first time.
