What services does Trevelyan’s provide to growers?

Trevelyan’s Pack & Cool delivers seamless orchard-to-market solutions, combining; full and partial orchard management, harvest coordination, expert packing, advanced coolstorage, hands-on grower support, specialist technical advice, pollen, local market and export coordination, and compliance.

What geographical areas across NZ do you work within?

The Trevelyan’s team operates across the entire North Island, with experienced representatives who bring a deep understanding of the unique strengths and challenges of each growing region.

What technical advice do you offer?

Trevelyan’s has dedicated avocado and kiwifruit technical teams with deep industry expertise. They regularly share insights from what they’re seeing on orchards, and connect with growers through Field Days, email updates, and one-on-one orchard visits to provide practical, timely advice.

What makes Trevelyan’s different from other postharvest operators?

What makes Trevelyan’s different is the way we do business. As a family-owned operation, we genuinely live our values—treating people with respect, and working with transparency and honesty in everything we do. We also have a strong commitment to sustainability, continuously looking for ways to improve our environmental impact and future-proof our industry. Finally, as a single-site operation, we benefit from close collaboration, clear communication, and the agility to respond quickly, delivering better outcomes for our growers and partners.

Do any of the packhouses have automation?

Yes, we currently have partial automation in three of our packhouses, including automated camera grading, partially automated packing and an automated palletiser. Trevelyan’s has a balanced approach to automation and people to ensure our operations remain agile and not overly reliant.

What sustainability practices and initiatives are you currently working on?

Sustainability is a core part of our company values—captured in our philosophy to “Tread Lightly.” Trevelyan’s is always actively progressing a range of sustainability initiatives across our operations, from waste and emissions reductions to regenerative growing methods, reflecting our commitment to doing the right thing for our environment and our community. Additionally, this includes a sustainability-linked loan with ASB Bank, which holds us accountable to measurable sustainability targets. For a deeper look at our current initiatives and progress, you can explore our latest Sustainability Report in the About Us section.

Who do I speak to about postharvest support?

Please contact Mike for kiwifruit and Daniel for avocado queries- all found in our people section or contact us section.

Why is a single-site operation a positive thing?

A single-site operation brings everything together in one place, creating greater consistency, efficiency, and control. With all fruit handled under one roof, processes are aligned, communication is faster, and quality standards are consistently met. It also means fewer delays and smoother logistics from intake through to packing and storage—ultimately delivering more reliable outcomes for growers and customers.

How do you assist with compliance?

Trevelyan’s maintains strict compliance with both national and international specifications to ensure consistently high product quality. Our team plays a key role in safeguarding food safety by actively managing risks related to pests and plant health, and food defence. We also provide dedicated support to growers for programmes such as GAP, KiwiGreen, and AvoGreen, alongside Zespri and NZ Avocado, helping ensure all requirements are met with confidence and ease.

What fruit does Trevelyan’s grow and pack?

Kiwifruit and avocados.

What coolstorage do you offer?

We currently have 44 state-of-the-art coolstores, including 12 Controlled Atmosphere (CA) rooms that provide ample storage. Construction is well underway on our newest coolstore – this will also be our first ammonia-glycol coolstore, which uses ammonia as a refrigerant. Ammonia is a naturally occurring compound that is non-ozone-depleting and has zero-global-warming-potential, allowing us to cool our fruit effectively while reducing our potential environmental impact should there ever be a leak.

Do you offer customised orchard support?

Trevelyan’s provides comprehensive orchard support through our Trevelyan’s Managed Orchards team, recognising that every orchard is unique. We tailor our orchard plans to suit the specific needs of each grower—whether a large corporate operation or a privately owned orchard—ensuring the right level of support, expertise, and care to maximise performance and long-term success. Additionally, new to our suite of offerings is block conversion, for more information contact Dan, in the Meet Our People section.
